Bacause of this teh entire meaning of teh text when seen in pdf format is getting Changed. I am atatching teh sample jrxml for your reference. Please see the difference in out put between pdf format and all other formats. Teh text is not correct in pdf format. Any help in this regard is appreciated. Its an urgent issue.
I have atatched the pdf and word output files also for your reference. I am facing this issue when tested from iReport tool with different viewers and also from the Spring WebApp. I am using iReport 3.7.5. Hi, You are not using the Arial Unicode MS font when exporting to PDF, because in your JRXML you have: pdfFontName='Times-Bold'. I suggest you take a look at the /demo/samples/fonts and /demo/samples/unicode samples that come with the JR project source files and you create a font extension for your Arial Unicode font, just like we create there font extension for Gentium font and Arphic font. The pdfXXX attributes in JRXML are deprecated and should no longer be used, if you go with a font extension as recommended. I hope this helps.
Hi Teodor, Thanks for the reply. I am already using the Font extension created for Arial Unicode MS font. The reson for the pdf Font name being pdfFontName='Times-Bold', there is no provision in iReport toll to remove it or set empty value. I had to use one value even though its deprecated. I agree that it will not be used as it is deprecated and also I have set the setting as isPdfEmbedded='true'.
I can send you the Font extension which I have created if you want me, the reason why I havent send it earlier is its size is around 13 MB. Hi Teodor, I have tried removing the ' pdfFontName ', ' pdfEncoding' and 'isPdfEmbedded' attributes from from the JRXML file and, even then its not showing correctly in pdf viewer. I guess Jasper uses iText for exporting teh report as pdf. I guess the issue is with iText? The reson for this is teh same thing works fine in iReportr internal viewer and also all other viewers except teh pdf viewer. Is there any way where in I can integrate the the iReport Internal Viewer to my Web application so that i can show teh report in in it? Teodor, I have different issue.
When I run my pdf report having 'Marathi' language unicode characters through JasperReport tool, it runs just fine. When I run it through java code, although after applying fonts extension, characters are not showing properly. Characters having joints are not showing up properly although they are saved properly in DB (MySql) and displaying well as expected in jsp/html.

This is killing me for days now. Thanks in advance!! Hello Teodor, I am having the similar problem with the nepali unicode font(mangal ).
When I run through JasperSoft Ireport Designer (3.7.6), it is working fine in Jreport Viewer but when I run through the java code to generate a pdf file. The font doesnot render properly. I tried all possible solutions like added in the font families 1 ) Added line (net. Mangal =net /sf /jasperreports /fonts /fonts. Xml ) in jasperreportsextension. Properties file 2) Added mangal.ttf inside (jasperreports-fonts-3.7.6.jar jasperreports-fonts-3.7.6 net sf jasperreports fonts mangal) 3) Also added the below lines in (jasperreports-fonts-3.7.6.jar jasperreports-fonts-3.7.6 net sf jasperreports fonts fonts.xml).
